| Great Ideas for Wedding Cake |
|
|
Through out the years I have come up with different ways of making
extra money to supplement the family income. I have typed term papers
for students, but with the age of computers that services is not longer
needed.
I have baked pans of bars for special events to help a local caterer and I also do special occasion cakes. These cakes are usually for people I know and are for birthday parties, retirement parties and anniversaries.
I am willing to use different flavored cake mixes as well as a variety of fillings in the layer cakes. Because the cakes are unique and tasty, I am getting quite a few requests.
My godchild has been the number one fan of my cakes since she was a little girl. I have made her birthday cake every year since she was born. I also made her first communion cake, confirmation cake and graduation cake. When she was planning her wedding she asked if I would make her wedding cake. I had never made one before. I had requests through the years, but always declined. I do not have the right pans to bake a wedding cake, and I do not have the frosting skills needed for such an important event. I tried to explain to my godchild that I could not do her wedding cake. She told me that she did not want the traditional wedding cake with tiers and fancy piping and flowers. She wanted several individual layer cakes of different flavors and fillings. She was going to have the cakes displayed on a table with different height cake plates. She wanted the cake that she and the groom would cut to be her favorite flavor. This sounded like an interesting idea for a wedding cake, but I was still leery about doing it. I did not feel that my decorating skills were good enough to be displayed and photographed as part of an event as important as a wedding. My godchild would not take no for an answer. She told me what flavor combinations she wanted and which fillings. She told me that she was not ordering any other wedding cake, so if I did not make the cakes she would not have any. I was left with no choice but to make the cakes she ordered. On the morning of the wedding I loaded the cakes, ten in all, into my car and drove to the banquet center where the reception was to be held. There was a separate table set up with different pedestal plates of varying heights to place the cakes on. Once I had all the cakes arranged I had to admit they looked very nice. During the reception I had three of my god child’s friends ask if I would make a wedding cake arrangement for their weddings. I may have found a new business. |
